Chapter 7 : Another "unfinished project" advert ?

Well, you know what happens next, don't you ?

Six weeks of slow progress welding rusty steel underlines the fact that it's more fun driving a Lotus than working on it.

And as I don't need it to travel to work the sense of urgency fades with time and the weeks somehow drift into months. The MR2 gets replaced with an MX5 ('cos it looks like an Elan but this hood won't leak dear...)

Other hobbies come along; we start cycling again, it's fun and there's a pub close to a nice cross-country route. Summer evenings drinking shandy and eating chips seem far more attractive than working underneath a car.

Because we have a modern car that we both like driving and the English summer is unusually sunny I find plenty of excuses for keeping the garage door closed.

But eventually guilt wins through and after tripping over Europa parts for the umpteenth time, I return to pull on the overalls.

Hmm, I wasn't really going to put that back, was I ?

Repairs completed, you look around and decide that mods to the master cylinder, planned whilst it was on the road, might as well get done now.

And the brake pipes need replacing in Kunifer.

And new flexibles. And new bushes. and.... and....

The toybox fund goes into the red, the months turn into years.
