TADTS - They All Do That Sir

Well, overall it hasn't been as bad as I thought.

Being a Lotus owner and true to the faith I bought the workshop manual, just so I'd be able to help other unfortunates you understand. It's actually one of the best I've seen and well worth buying for any prospective Elise owner.

My car had the "I'm not letting you in" door locks, but plenty of light oil and a touch of grease soon sorted those out. Don't use WD40, there's a section in the manual which warns about certain release fluids attacking the glue that holds the windows in their holders.

And the sticky boot cable wasn't the cable, it was the lock inside the boot that needed some grease applying properly, not just dabbed on the top of the catch for visual effect.

The windows needed adjusting to stop leaks, and you must ensure they're fully wound up as they only just make the seal.

I've had problems with the windscreen wiper not clearing in anything more than drizzle. Initially I used Rain-X but finally modified the arm. It's far better now and actually clears the screen

After almost 2000 miles, just as I was beginning to think Lotus had made a practical car, Elsie caught the millennium bug.

This made us both very poorly, the car didn’t go and my blood pressure soared. It enabled me to learn lots of new words with Russian-sounding pronunciations and resulted in a week's intensive care for Elsie and lots of warranty budget being spent.
