Well, what's it like then ?
A question asked regularly in the first week of having the car. And you know that it really means
Well, it's noisy for a start. On the drive home I thought the gearbox was on the passenger seat it was so loud.
But it gets better the more you drive it and by 800 miles or so, it begins to settle down. Or maybe you just lose some of your hearing ?
I’d specified the optional hardtop as the car would be a daily driver and there were still tales of leaking hoods. I prefer the style of the car with it fitted, and although I also have a hood with the car, I’ve never bothered to take off the hardtop.
But it’s strange going back to having to wind the windows up and down. Even the 1968 Elan has electric windows, come on Lotus this is a £26k car after all !
As you can see, getting in is a practiced art - it's as well not to eat too many pizzas. Still, it puts off all the "wanna go in a Lotus" types because usually they can't get in. And if they do, getting out will be interesting...
and it's fun..... life is not a rehearsal.
