Chapter 5 : A Watershed

Respray complete, a new windscreen and the car's looking good now.

"Can't you get something that doesn't need fixing ?"

Why dear ? What would you like ?

"Anything that doesn't break"

So, a watershed. We sold the Marcos after almost 18yrs ownership and with the proceeds bought reliability in the shape of a brand new MR2.

“Ahh, that's nice, I like blue cars"

Yep, and now I don't need it every day, I'll just take a look underneath the Europa.

“Are you coming in ?"

yes dear.... just a minute

"your dinner's in the dog.... I’m going to bed now"

Over the last few months the car had seemed a bit odd in it's handling. There were these funny noises and clicks, and it seemed to "load up" on sweeping bends. Nothing you could put your finger on, but when you cleaned off the muck, we were back in familiar ground. Yes, I know the chassis will flex but this is ridiculous. It's another body off job.

"Get someone else to do it, you're too old"

Yes dear

"What's all that metal for ?"

nothing dear

"What's this ? what about my bathroom ?"

Great idea - we’ll need a good shower unit, this looks like a long & messy job.....
